Started in 2011 by European Alternatives, Transnational Dialogues is an open and on-going cross-media platform managing and imagining artistic and cultural projects with a focus on the new geographies of globalisation and the emergence of a multi-polar artistic and intellectual world.

After over two decades of so-called globalisation, cultural production of a truly transnational scale remains sporadic. Whereas understanding of, and collaboration betweeen, artistic and cultural practice in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa has grown enormously, we still have to witness the emergence of an innovative model of cross-national co-production able to go beyond both the appreciation for difference per se and the hegemonising force of a common artistic vocabulary.
Transnational Dialogues facilitates artists, creatives, professionals, intellectuals and writers from different continents to come together for a series of exchanges in both physical form and online. The platform promotes sharing of information, networking, and conceptual collaboration between individuals and organisations working in a variety of disciplines transnationally, and offers a trampoline for future collaborations and initiatives.
Transnational Dialogues works through specific projects, including international workshops, seminars, study-visits, publications, video-production, and an online presence.
In 2014, Transnational Dialogues will bring forward a specific collaboration between China, Europe, and Brazil, coordinating young creatives from the three continents to reflect and create together in a year-long process of networked-production, a multilayered exchange and mix of virtual collaboration, meetings, seminars and caravans that outline a new transnational model of cross-mediatic and cross-national production.
In partnership with: Artoholics e.V. (Berlin, Germany); Casa da Cultura Digital (São Paulo, Brazil); Organhaus Art Space (Chongqin, China); Zajia Lab (Beijing, China).
With the support of: the Youth in Action Programme of the European Union.
P.S. A full presentation and a call for application for prospective participants in Transnational Dialogues will be published shortly. Stay tuned!
